The patient first contacted us in January this year, and by early February, we had arranged an online consultation with a physician at the Osaka Heavy Ion Therapy Center. During the consultation, the doctor advised that surgery could also be considered as a treatment option and recommended that the patient discuss this further with their local physician. After careful consideration, the patient ultimately chose to proceed with heavy ion radiotherapy.

As the patient came from a country where government funding may be available for overseas medical treatment, we initially supported the patient with the necessary procedures, including obtaining a recommendation letter from a Japanese medical institution. However, according to the patient, the local approval process was taking too long, and they decided to proceed with treatment on a self-funded basis. After payment was made in early May, we were able to coordinate the patient’s first visit within approximately five days. The total treatment cost was JPY 5.28 million, including the full set of examinations required for heavy ion radiotherapy.
